"The Gap" National Park is well known by Sydney Locals. Situated on the South Head entrance of Sydney Harbour, and accessible via Watsons Bay. The Gap is a beautiful spot with 360 degree views all around the harbour and out to the Pacific Ocean. More famously and unfortunately known by locals as a well known suicide spot, the Gap has become well known to people wanting to take their own life by jumping off the high cliff face, and landing on the water or rocks below. Only recently the council has installed CCTV cameras around The Gap, in the event someone is seen on the outer side of the 1 metre high fence. Sydney Harbour Boat Tours, stops off at the Gap to let its guest see the awesome views up the top of South Head. Great photographs of the Pacific Ocean or City syline in the background can be taken on a clear day. The Sydney Harbour Boat Tours boat pulls up outside the Watsons Bay Hotel on the beach and a 5 minute stroll is all you need to reach the top. After this we wander down to the Watsons Bay Hotel for a refreshing afternoon drink. Photographs of the Gap can be seen in our photos section of this website. |
