There are daily wholesale auctions for Sydney's seafood retailers. Each weekday, SFM hosts the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the world's second largest seafood market outside Japan. Approximately 2,800 crates (around 50 tonnes) of seafood is auctioned each day through the computerised auction system to approximately 150 buyers. The incredible variety of seafood is sourced from individual fishermen, Co-ops, fishing businesses and aquaculture farms in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific Region. Parking for cars is available just off the eastern side of the Anzac Bridge. The best way to get to the markets is via the water. Sydney Harbour Boat Tours docks at the Sydney Fish Markets around 12pm for a succulent seafood lunch. Our seafood is provided by the Fish Market Cafe. |
